Bishop Nishantha Fernando Attends Enthronement of 106th Archbishop of Canterbury

The Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, Bishop of Kurunagala, undertook an official visit to the United Kingdom in March 2026, marked by his participation in the historic enthronement of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury.

The solemn installation of the Most Rev. Sarah Mullally took place at Canterbury Cathedral on March 25, 2026, coinciding with the Feast of the Annunciation. This significant occasion brought together bishops and representatives from across the global Anglican Communion, including those from Extra Provincial Dioceses.

During his visit, Bishop Fernando actively engaged with a range of congregations and ecclesial gatherings. On March 22, he presided at a Holy Communion service at All Saints Church, fostering fellowship with the local Anglican community.

On the same day, he joined the Sunday worship of the London Tamil Christian Congregation at Rivercourt Methodist Church, reflecting the strong spiritual and cultural ties between the Church of Ceylon and the Sri Lankan diaspora.
