Pastoral Visits and Confirmation Services at Trinity College and Hillwood College, Kandy

The Diocese of Kurunegala marked two significant occasions in the life of the Church's educational ministry with Pastoral Visits and Confirmation Services held at Holy Trinity Church (Trinity College Chapel), Kandy, on 1 June 2026, and at Hillwood College, Kandy, on 16 May 2026.

These services brought together students, staff, clergy, parents, and well-wishers in celebration of faith and Christian discipleship. During the Confirmation Services, young people publicly affirmed the promises made at their Baptism and committed themselves to a deeper life of faith within the Anglican tradition.

Both Trinity College and Hillwood College are among the most prominent Anglican missionary-founded schools in Sri Lanka and continue to maintain their historic association with the Church of Ceylon. The Confirmation Services remain an important part of each school's annual calendar, reflecting their enduring commitment to Christian formation and spiritual growth.

The Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, Bishop of Kurunegala, presided at the services, offering pastoral guidance, prayers, and blessings to the confirmands. In his message, the Bishop encouraged the young generation to remain steadfast in their faith, uphold Christian values, and continue to grow spiritually while benefiting from the rich heritage of Anglican education.

The Diocese gives thanks to God for the students who confirmed their faith and for the dedicated efforts of the principals, chaplains, teachers, and parents who nurture the spiritual lives of young people. We pray that these confirmands may continue to grow in faith, wisdom, and service, carrying forward the Christian witness of their schools and the Church of Ceylon for generations to come.
